Unless FromSoftware decided to be a dick "patch" this up as well, but its not a glitch, so I would assume they're not going to do anything to block people from doing this. The bottomless box glitch on Dark Souls 1 got patched, the infinite boss soul consumption glitch in Dark Souls 3 also got patched (yesterday), but this idea of dropping items and reload a backup save will always work. However on the good side, this is a system design loop hole and will never get patched, because its not a glitch. Say for example if you have never upgraded any weapon to +10, a person dropping a weapon thats +10 for you, you won't be able to see it nor pick it up.

First off, you cannot duplicate items that other players can't see / pick up through online co-op, such as boss ouls, all kinds of titanite upgrade materials, and weapons too if you haven't upgraded your own. This definitely works, but there are limits as to what you can do using this method.
